Comment: After reading the rave reviews I was really excited to get this product. I have very oily skin and after a few hours my face is always shiny. The product description notes that the primer is ideal for oily and acne-prone skin, which is what I have. Today was the first day I have used the primer and I am disappointed. After a few hours my face is as shiny as it always is without the primer. I may try to use more in the future and refridgerate the product, but I'm not hopeful. I think i'll try Smashbox's gel-powder product for oily skin. This primer just did not do the job. It did create a smoother surface to apply my makeup, but that's about it.

Summary: I thought this was supposed to make my makeup last longer
Comment: I have never bothered with primer before but I thought I may as well join the bandwagon. Having decided to reacquaint myself with Laura Mercier products, I bought the Oil-Free Primer and Translucent Loose Powder.

During the first few uses, I applied a little bit of the primer after waiting for my moisturizer to set in. I waited at least a couple of minutes before proceeding with my foundation. Let me say that this product goes on beautifully and provides a very smooth canvas for applying my foundation. But I must admit this is where it all ends for me. I realize that this is not meant to control oil, hence the reason for oil-control foundation and loose powder, but I was expecting that it would make my makeup last longer than normal. I have tried to vary my application thinking I was doing it incorrectly (patting lightly, massaging gently, applying liberally, waiting longer before applying foundation and even putting it in the refrigerator) but it doesn't seem to do much except for providing a smooth base for foundation. My makeup held up just the same even if I didn't use this. Oh well, I will continue to use this until it's run out only for the fact that it makes makeup application so smooth, but I will try other brands in the future.

Comment: This primer is truly amazing....just a little bit goes a long way.....applies nice and absorbs quickly, you don't even feel anything on your face...keeps my makeup fresh for hours.....you would never know I have oily skin with this product...an absolute must buy.....you will be very happy with this product...

Summary: Harmless, but unnecessary product.
Comment: I don't usually bother to review products online, but felt compelled to do so when I read the other 5 star reviews of this product. I am 41 years old, and my skin is still fairly oily. I have minimal lines and sun damage. I do, however, still have breakouts, particularly from many skin products (moisturizers, sunscreens, foundations--you name it) on the market. My skin can be very sensitive, & my "product-related" breakouts are the under-the-skin, cystic, and very painful sort. After years of searching in vain for a foundation, I found and use the Laura Mercier oil-free foundation. It has performed perfectly on my skin. I decided to buy the oil-free primer to extend the hours the foundation would look flawless, although I never really had a problem with it wearing out. I suppose I bought into the Laura Mercier marketing deal. While the LM oil-free foundation primer did not cause breakouts, I felt it made my foundation last a shorter, rather than a longer amount of time. After the first two uses, I put it away for a month, using only the LM oil-free foundation. I tried it again, and this time I was sure....it made the foundation wear off my face more quickly than without it. Therefore, I would not purchase this product again...too much money to not enough performance.
