They can be activated at any time and can be used as a cold pack as well (For use as a cold pack they must be placed into a refrigerator or freezer)
For heat simply snap the metal disk and the pack will heat up to over 120° F (49° C) in 15 seconds.
Once the product has been used it will become hard and has to be RE-CHARGED to RE-USE. This is done by placing product into boiling water for 10 minutes. Directions are clearly printed on every pack. Summary: Love these Comment: I took these on a cruise, I have sinus problems and usually use microwaveable heat packs. With no microwave available I brought along a hot pot to recharge them. They worked great. When recharging make sure the gel is completely clear. The first couple of times I tried to recharge them I didn't get them completely clear and the needed to be reboiled again. Customer Rating: Summary: Poor delivery Comment: The seller sent the wrong item and it was very frustrating to get satisfaction. Amazon stepped and settled the problem.
