The Leatherman Core multitool packs 12 essential tools into one compact, versatile, heavy-duty device. This 4-1/2-inch multitool has powerful new pliers, longer blades, and easy-to-use locks to keep your tool secure and your fingers safe -- and it's the first Leatherman to feature hollow-ground screwdrivers in the standard sizes. The redesigned Core features comfortable handles that are rounded to ensure a firm grip, and stainless steel construction with bronze and steel bushings. This multitool comes with a lanyard ring and a leather sheath.

Key User Features

The Core features all-locking blades. They open easily with one hand -- just place your thumb at the base of the blade and rotate the knife until it's fully extended, which securely engages the locking mechanism. The locking mechanism is marked with a padlock symbol on the tool, and to disengage it, just squeeze it towards the handle until the blade slides past the lock. It's a simple feature, but it's one that guarantees your safety.

To open and close the interior blades, just grip the handles and swing them open. Each interior blade can be lifted out by using the nail nicks or the thumb lifts. The Core features both straight and serrated knife blades; the straight blades can be sharpened with standard sharpening methods, so it's easy to maintain. The serrated blades are easy to sharpen too, but make sure you're using a sharpening system designed to accommodate the serrations.

Comment: Great tool! With 3 flat screw drivers and a philips it is aimed at the civilized end of the spectrum. It does have a wood cutting blade that works alright on PVC. One thing I thought of that it doesn't have that most screw drivers have is an electrically insulating handle. Oh well, of course it has to be metal. All around a good tool. I don't have any major gripes with it. I think it is the biggest that Leatherman makes currently.
