 Summary: Bird Bath DeIcer Comment: This product replaces one that we had used for years. It keeps the water warm enough to prevent freezing so the birds and squirrels have water to drink. Customer Rating: Summary: Bird Bath De-Icer Comment: I was interested in a product that would keep my bird bath from freezing during cold months without spending a great deal of money. This bird bath de-icer has accomplished both. Our temperatures have been in the single digits with wind chills well below zero and to my pleasure this heater has kept the water flowing for my birds. Today as I looked out, several cardinals and chickadees were sharing a drink. I am very pleased, as usual with the quality and the price of this product and others that I have found on Amazon.com Customer Rating: Summary: API 300 bird bath de-icer Comment: Works very well. Even though it has a thermostat, we installed it on a timer so that we're not heating the water during the night when the birds aren't around. Ours is a shallow bird bath and since the heater has a rather stiff electrical cord, we weighted it down with a rock to keep it completely submerged. Customer Rating: Summary: Product was just what I wanted! Comment: The bird bath de-icer keeps the water clear of ice here in cold NE. The birds love having fresh water by their feeders and we seem to have more of them when there is water for them to drink in the winter. It doesn't fit easily into the bird bath though or I would have given it 5 stars. UPDATE: While it worked all the FIRST winter, it failed to work at all the following winter. I'm now trying one of the rock shaped heaters.... we'll see on that one.
