Editorial Review:
Distilled from Sean Covey's popular guide, this miniature book applies the principles of the original, best-selling book to help teens navigate those challenging years.
Based on his father's bestselling The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, Sean Covey applies the same principles to teens, using a vivacious, entertaining style. To keep it fun, Covey writes, he "stuffed it full of cartoons, clever ideas, great quotes, and incredible stories about real teens from all over the world... along with a few other surprises." Did he ever! Flip open to any page and become instantly absorbed in real-life stories of teens who have overcome obstacles to succeed, and step-by-step guides to shifting paradigms, building equity in "relationship bank accounts," creating action plans, and much more. As a self-acknowledged guinea pig for many of his dad's theories, Sean Covey is a living example of someone who has taken each of the seven habits to heart: be proactive; begin with the end in mind; put first things first; think win-win; seek first to understand, then to be understood; synergize; and sharpen the saw. He includes a comical section titled "The 7 Habits of Highly Defective Teens," which includes some, shall we say, counterproductive practices: put first things last; don't cooperate; seek first to talk, then pretend to listen; wear yourself out... Covey's humorous and up-front style is just light enough to be acceptable to wary teenagers, and down-and-dirty enough to really make a difference. (Ages 13 and older) --Emilie Coulter

Summary: true condition not disclosed Comment: the seller should have stated that the exercises/activities had already been completed (in black marker, no less)rendering those activities useless to me. the book had writing in it throughout, which affects the experience of the reader as they attempt to do the exercises. Customer Rating: Summary: Students love this Comment: My high school students in a rural area were very receptive to this information and found the accompanying workbook very helpful in shaping a new life Customer Rating: Summary: The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens (Miniature Edition) Comment: well i should have bought the original. i bought this for a friend in need of help and i liked the real book cuz it was well written and relate-able . but this book is a small edition and it only tell u what the 7 habits are...nothing else.. i don't like it because beside intructions, we need inspirations and why we are the way we are. Customer Rating: Summary: "Seven Habits of Continued Success" Comment: The Seven Habits of Highly Effective Teens was written by Sean Covey in order to improve the overall quality of a teenager's life. Sean Covey not only introduces the importance of including these seven habits in a teen's daily life, but also touches on many important points including self esteem, peer pressure, relationships and health. The summer before my freshman year I was selected to attend a two week Leadership Institute that was based off The Seven Habits of Highly Effective Teens. After four years, I'm currently a college freshman, and can honestly say I use the Seven Habits daily. The Seven Habits is a simple book which easily relates to teens and what they might be going through. Here are some of the life lessons I gained. 1. Maintaining a positive outlook, when you're negative you miss many opportunities to learn from important situations. 2. Recording and updating goals regularly, "A goal not written is only a wish."Record your goals so you hold yourself accountable for your actions. Never stop goal setting! 3. Synergy, when you learn to work and collaborate with others the result will be amazing. I learned throughout my high school years that I didn't know everything and I wasn't always right. When you learn to synergize and listen to others, your relationships and your overall outcome will improve. Parents purchase this for your teens, sit in their room, and let them pick it up at their own time. They will thank you for it later. I highly recommend this book to teenagers and individuals who want to make positive changes in their lives. Customer Rating: Summary: a good book for adults, too. Comment: i am not a teenager any more, it was displayed at my local library. I love to read new books, so i checked it out, i am glad that i did. I didn't want to read his dad's book which were published at least 10 years ago, i want to read something new and fresh. I haven't finished reading, but it already boosted my confidence. Every adults probably think that they know what to do in order to be successful in their lives. This book is like a personal coach, it taught me something that I have never thought about. Of course, there are things in this book that are just for teens. Overall, it is a very good book. It can be read more than once just to remind yourself when you are not feeling so sure about yourself.
