Editorial Review:
You can go after the job you want...and get it! You can take the job you have...and improve it! You can take any situation you're in...and make it work for you! Simon & Schuster Audio is proud to present one of the best-selling books of all time, Dale Carnegie's perennial classic "How to Win Friends and Influence People" -- presented here in its entirety on 8 cassettes. For over 60 years the rock-solid, time-tested advice in this audiobook has carried thousands of now-famous people up the ladder of success in their business and personal lives. With this truly phenomenal audiobook, learn: The six ways to make people like you The twelve ways to win people to your way of thinking The nine ways to change people without arousing resentment And much, much more! There is room at the top, when you know..."How to Win Rriends and Influence People"
This grandfather of all people-skills books was first published in 1937. It was an overnight hit, eventually selling 15 million copies. How to Win Friends and Influence People is just as useful today as it was when it was first published, because Dale Carnegie had an understanding of human nature that will never be outdated. Financial success, Carnegie believed, is due 15 percent to professional knowledge and 85 percent to "the ability to express ideas, to assume leadership, and to arouse enthusiasm among people." He teaches these skills through underlying principles of dealing with people so that they feel important and appreciated. He also emphasizes fundamental techniques for handling people without making them feel manipulated. Carnegie says you can make someone want to do what you want them to by seeing the situation from the other person's point of view and "arousing in the other person an eager want." You learn how to make people like you, win people over to your way of thinking, and change people without causing offense or arousing resentment. For instance, "let the other person feel that the idea is his or hers," and "talk about your own mistakes before criticizing the other person." Carnegie illustrates his points with anecdotes of historical figures, leaders of the business world, and everyday folks. --Joan Price

Summary: Great Book Comment: These techniques are great and time savers as well. The book has taught me alot. Customer Rating: Summary: Easy to read book with good advice Comment: This is a simple book with good advice. If you can practice what it preaches, almost everybody will love you Customer Rating: Summary: Its worth reading Comment: Excellent book about people and how to treat them in general. Excellent read for Canadian managers, they could use some pointers in managing people. Also print out the Principles to live by, read them daily and apply them to your daily life and you will have a positive change in your life. Customer Rating: Summary: A good book for what it is... Comment: Lots of people love this book. I learned a LOT from it. I know what it takes to win friends and influence people. My moral dilemma comes when practicing what the book preaches. Read this book and then read "The Fountainhead" by Ayn Rand, and maybe you'll realize what I did. Customer Rating: Summary: Vital information for a self-centered society Comment: I'm halfway through this book and am already inclined to give it 5 stars. I tend to do that with products that offer me valuable insight and information that enables me to run my small business better. The concepts in the book are very simple and straightforward and at times you may slap your forward and say; "well duh!" But it's often the most simplistic things that we as human beings overlook and stubbornly take for granted, such as remembering other people's names and trivial information about them. If the people who leave poor reviews for this book actually got nothing out of reading it, then why did they pick it up in the first place, did the title not give it away? I would have to say that although I found some of the advice in the book to be basic, if you apply it consistently, then you will have success working with other people. Like everything else, practice makes perfect. It also makes you feel good to make other people feel good- at work, the grocery store and even at home. We live in a self-centered society where it's all about ME-ME-ME, and the old fashioned viewpoint explained in the book has become obsolete in today's society. I'm not sure it's fair to give this book less than 3 STARS unless your book had pages ripped out, or you just wanted to be sarcastic and negative for no apparent reason. This book is for those who may already know what it is to have good values and high ethical standards, but just need a little reminder from time to time...we all do.
