When Sookie's brother Jason's eyes start to change, she knows he's about to turn into a were-panther for the first time. But her concern becomes cold fear when a sniper sets his deadly sights on the local changeling population-and Jason's new panther brethren suspect he may be the shooter. Summary: enjoyable as always, but......
Comment: if you are interested in reading book 5 in this series than you're a fan and I can leave out a synopsis of the series. I just finished book four, which I felt was the best so far (I'm a Sookie/Eric fan) and I was excited to read the next book. Overall the story was very good, but not great. This particular story seemed more like a zig zagging grouping of side stories than one continuous thread.

Also, there not enough sexual tension between Sookie and any one particular male character, in fact yet more male creatures "hot for Sookie" have been introduced, which is getting a bit "odd". Though my husband, who's read all the books already say's their a method to their madness so I'm willing to overlook that.

But, all in all, even a "so-so" Sookie Stackhouse mystery is better than most other paranormal mysteries, so I'd still suggest it for other Sookie fans.

Summary: Sookie carries on with her "charmed existance"
Comment: If you are up to book 5, you've been bitten by the Sookie Stackhouse book and I don't have to tell you how riveting her life is. Charlaine Harris does it again -- and superbly: keeps you enthralled with an unlikely heroine, vampires, werewolves, and all sorts of creatures that you should know better than believe in.

In book 5, brother Jason is now a shifter himself (and still as dumb as dirt and more handsome than he deserves), a sniper is out hunting his shifter kind, and Sookie is (of course) caught in the middle -- with one romantic challenge after another.

Go ahead and read this one too: Work, kids, the grass, and tax day can just wait!

Comment: I love Charlaine Harris's books about Sookie Stackhouse. Once I start one, I can't bear to put it down. Charlaine keeps you wanting to know what's going to happen next.
